As far as I'm concerned, I'm hearing a lot about junk food lately. No one has given an exact definition of what foods are junk, but in the dictionary, "junk food" means food that is quick and easy to prepare and eat but that is thought to be bad for your health. Also I can say that "junk food" is food that tastes really great, but unfortunately offers little body-building nutrition. I've looked on the Internet where from the word "junk" comes and I've found that it comes from the Portuguese language. Five hundred years ago it meant old pieces of rope. Later it came to mean any kind of waste material that somehow could be put to use. Finally people use it to describe anything with no value. I really love junk food but we know that the biggest consummators of junk food are Americans. They eat a lot of potato chips, corn chips, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and cookies. I've said that I love junk food, but I don't eat this kind of food, because I know that if we eat junk food, obesity, vitamin and mineral deficiencies and other health problems can occur.
